Food For Thought

It’s that time of year. Holidays, get togethers, and celebrations loaded with temptations and distractions. It can be an intimidating time to try to stick to your weight loss and wellness goals. But, it doesn’t have to be! We’ve compiled a list of six helpful tools you can use to stay the course and finish what you’ve started. Check it out!

  1. Remember Your Why – Why did you start your weight loss journey? Was it to improve your cholesterol or blood sugar levels? Was it to alleviate some stress and pain off your joints? Was it to be able to play with your grandchildren? Whatever your “why” is, revisit it during this time of year, it will help you stay motivated and continue working hard!
  2. Find Support – Your most accessible support system is your Moxifit Coach. They are available to guide you and provide you with tools and information to stay determined toward your goals. Reach out to them when you feel like you’re wavering! Also, be open with friends and family about the journey you are on and explain why it is so important to you.
  3. Make a Plan – The easiest way to fail is to go in without a plan. Take a moment every Sunday from now until the New Year to look at the week ahead and know what challenges or temptations may be coming your way. Figure out how you can navigate them (with the help of your Moxifit Coach), whether it be eating ahead of time, bringing your own food, or creating a permission slip. There are endless ways to set yourself up for success!
  4. Don’t Tempt Yourself – If you’re attending an event that you know is going to have temptations, do your best to avoid them. Things like sitting away from the dessert table, bringing your favorite Moxifit product, and mingling away from where people are eating will make it easier for you to stick to your goals.
  5. Stay Active – Exercise is the best distraction! Maybe you can’t get your mind off of the leftovers your spouse brought home from dinner last night, go take a walk! While you’re on that walk, do a mental inventory of the food you have in your kitchen and what healthy option you plan to make when you get home (if you truly are hungry – not just bored). Not only will it burn a few calories but it will relieve stress and release the “feel-good” hormones you need to stay motivated.
  6. Allow Yourself Grace – Going into the holiday season, recognize that this is going to be a challenging time and know that you may slip up from time to time. This is completely normal as we are all only human! Be kind to yourself and give yourself credit for the work you’ve put in. Remember, one decision doesn’t have to ruin the whole day or week, get back on track as soon as you can!
